Today I was reading my daily Mother Teresa quote from a book my brother got me and through it, God really spoke to my heart about what I've been praying for recently. It read, "God loves you. Love one another as He loves you. Love is sharing, love is giving the best we have. We are carriers of God's love and whoever you are, you can become one also." How true these words are! "We are carriers of God's love." As Christians, we are called to love God's people as He loves them- as He loves us. How often though does this not hold true for Christians though? (Of which I'm guilty more often than I like). We are called to love each other no matter what and to show God's love to the world. How easy it is at times though to show love to your neighbor and not to your enemy- to not love someone who wrongs you. In struggling with this, God has shown me that I must first remember that no matter what I do, God still loves me with a love no human is capable of. And second, in order to attempt to love His people the way He does, we must first fully love and trust God. While this sounds rudimentary, how can we love His people if we don't completely surrender ourselves, our lives, and our plans to pick up our cross daily and follow Him wherever He might lead us, no questions asked? How can we trust in His love for other people and love them when they wrong us, if we don't first fully put our trust in God's love for us, with our own lives? By that, I mean the 100% fully surrendered and holding onto Him for dear life- the way someone holds unto a cliff for dear life. It's not until we completely open our hands and let go of everything that's inside it, everything we're holding onto, and extend it up to God, that God can take a full grasp of our hand and pull us up from the side of the cliff. That is the kind of trust and faith I want; to let go of everything and hold unto Him for "dear life". To truly know what it means to be completely surrendered, completely broken so that God can use me and build me into the person I'm suppose to be. God formed us in His image and through all our sins, He still loves us with an unconditional love. That is what we must trust in and live through our actions so that we can be "carriers of His love" to the people around us. To love and trust God with everything we have; only then can He fully use us for the plan He has for our lives.
" So far as the Law is concerned, however, I am dead- killed by the Law itself- in order that I might live for God. I have been put to death with Christ on his cross, so that it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. This life that I live now, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave his life for me". Galatians 2: 19-20
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If any of you would come after me, he must deny himslef and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lost it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. " Matt 16: 24-25
